Many people who we have the pleasure of meeting through our practice are often pleasantly surprised that everyone they encounter are to quote ‘really nice, normal people’.  I know for some, a plastic surgery experience can at first appear very daunting so it is always lovely to get the opportunity to meet with Mr Mutimer’s patients and play a part in putting them at ease.

With this in mind, I thought it might be nice to introduce the team starting with Mr Mutimer himself.

As you may have already read, Mr Mutimer is a fully qualified Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon. He has worked in this field for over 20 years and still thoroughly loves the work he does each day. He has always been passionate about education and has trainee Plastic Surgeons working with him on a regular basis. He is very involved with Interplast, having travelled overseas numerous times to operate with surgical teams in countries such as Vietnam and Sri Lanka, a country he has fallen in love with. Mr Mutimer now contributes his time on the Board of Interplast.

One thing you may not know about Mr Mutimer is that he is an avid Collingwood supporter (which we happily remind him of whenever they lose!)

Michelle, our CEO/Director of Nursing (that’s me) has worked in Day Surgery for over 15 years and has always had a passion for management. (I guess this is where I stop talking about myself in the third person?) I am at my happiest when surrounded by paperwork and forms!  I have been involved in the state and national day surgery nurses groups and the Australia Day Surgery Council.  One of the things I love the most about day surgery is meeting new people all the time.

One thing you may not know about me is that I have a well established addiction to chocolate and stationery (mental image of my top drawer, if you need a sugar kick or a paper clip…..that’s the place to go!)

Next may I introduce you to Rita, our Business Manager. Rita is the engine of the practice, working behind the scenes to keep things humming along. She handles all of the accounts side of the practice and helps with medical claims from various health care providers, and all the stuff that requires patience and an eye for detail.

One thing you may not know about Rita– she has never had an urge to learn how to fly!

Simone and Chrissy are our Practice Nurses and both have formal qualifications and years of experience in Plastic Surgical Nursing.  There is not much they haven’t seen and they both love the busy, interactive role that is caring for  our patients both before and after surgery. They are a fountain of knowledge and only too happy to share this with you and answer any questions you may have.

We asked around and found out Simone is addicted to holidaying in warm places whilst Chrissy is an avid gardener – she even grows her own vegie patch and obviously is good at it as her family gets fed from it every day!

Last but definitely not least are our two lovely receptionists Charlotte and Stacey. They will be one of the first people you meet when you step into Brighton Plastic Surgery.

Somethings you may not know about Charlotte and Stacey: Charlotte is one who needs her coffee in the morning (but dont worry she will still be a welcoming face should she not have had her fix yet!) and Stacey loves art and drawing.

Look forward to seeing you when next you pay us a visit.

Michelle Birks – Director of Nursing
