About Facial Implants

Facial implants are used to change the contours of the face.

The two main types of facial implant surgery our surgeons perform are cheek implants or a chin implant.

Cheek implants are used to build up areas that appear “sunken” due to the ageing process or to change the contours of the face.

We use soft, flexible silicone cheek implants which are attached to the cheek bone and are able to be contoured to achieve an imperceptible result. Cheek surgery offers a permanent solution to a sunken midface and to people with altered facial curves. Silicone cheek implants come in various sizes so your plastic surgeon can tailor them to meet your individual needs.

A common reason to undergo a chin implant is to change one’s facial profile by creating a balance between the chin and other facial features.

A chin implant can also be beneficial to assist with symmetry of facial features. Chin plastic surgery offers a permanent solution and will give more shape to the jaw line.

Chin implant surgery in Australia is available to both men and women.

What’s Involved in Cheek and Chin Implant Surgery?

Cheek and chin implant surgery is a highly individualised procedure, and as such, design and implementation must be customised to meet each patient’s unique needs.

Cheek implants are designed to offer a permanent solution to change the contours, shape, and definition of your face.

A small incision is made on the inside of the mouth. Soft tissue is then lifted from the bone, creating room for the implant to be inserted. Cheek implant surgery usually takes 1 hour.

Chin implant surgery involves your surgeon making small incisions inside your mouth, on the gum line below your front lower teeth.

When inserted, the implant should feel natural and comfortable. Outcomes include chin definition as well as a change in symmetry of your face.

Both cheek and chin implant surgery can be performed alongside other facial techniques including eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, and facelift surgery.

Cosmetic Surgery is real surgery and requires a general anaesthetic, both carry risks. All surgery has a post operative recovery time. We will discuss this in detail at your consultation. Your recovery time may be impacted by a range of factors, including your type of work, personal responsibilities, support available, and your health history, as well as the surgery itself. All surgery carries risks, complications are not common but they can occur and these will be discussed at your consultations.
