Facial Laser Resurfacing
Facial wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and certain types of scars can be improved by a variety of skin resurfacing techniques. Ageing, sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle factors including nutrition, alcohol consumption and smoking, all contribute to facial wrinkling. Changes in pigmentation such as blotchiness or brown spots also occur with age, as a result of taking birth control pills, pregnancy or genetic factors. Skin conditions like acne may have made the surface of your skin uneven. These problems, as well as certain other skin conditions may be improved by skin resurfacing.
- wrinkled or sun damaged facial skin
- vertical wrinkles around the mouth that cause lipstick to "bleed"
- lines or "crows feet" around the eyes
- skin laxity in the lower eyelid area
- fine wrinkling of the upper eyelids
- brown spots or blotchy skin
- certain pre-cancerous skin growths
- acne or chicken pox scars
- superficial facial scars from a past injury
Patients may have skin resurfacing at almost any age. Certain characteristics can make you a better candidate for one technique rather than another. Mr Mutimer will advise which technique he feels is best for you.
Resurfacing techniques can be performed to varying depths. A superficial treatment requires less healing time, but may require the procedure to be repeated in order to achieve the same results as a deeper treatment.
Other resurfacing techniques including non surgical facial procedures such as chemical peels, can also be performed in conjunction with other facial cosmetic surgery.
If you are considering skin resurfacing, a personal consultation with Mr Mutimer is the best way to obtain important information you need. Call our office to make an appointment on (03) 9592 0522 or email jane@plasticsurgeryaustralia.com.
