Neck Lift Surgery

About Neck Lift Surgery

A neck lift tightens loose neck muscles and removes loose skin to produce a change in contour and definition of the neck.

After the age of 40 the face and neck may begin to show changes. These are often related to the normal ageing process, however they can be accelerated by factors such as sun exposure, smoking and diet.

A neck lift will not stop the ageing process however can be effective in changing the contour of the neck and lower face areas.

During your neck surgery, fat is suctioned or excised, muscles may be tightened and skin may be removed.

Each technique is performed slightly differently in order to address your unique concerns or needs.

A neck lift can be performed alone or as part of a facelift. Other associated procedures may also include eyelid surgery, brow lift, and facial implants.

What Does a Neck Lift Address?

Signs of ageing are often evident in the neck and lower face. The skin in this area is thinner than in other areas and as we age it does lose elasticity.

A neck lift addresses many aspects including:

  • Loose neck skin
  • Excess skin in the lower part of the face (usually causing jowls)
  • Fatty deposits (including a “double chin”)
  • Abnormal neck contours

Speak to your plastic surgeon to discover how a neck or facelift (or both) may address your specific concerns.

Cosmetic Surgery is real surgery and requires a general anaesthetic, both carry risks. All surgery has a post operative recovery time. We will discuss this in detail at your consultation. Your recovery time may be impacted by a range of factors, including your type of work, personal responsibilities, support available, and your health history, as well as the surgery itself. All surgery carries risks, complications are not common but they can occur and these will be discussed at your consultations.
