Spotlight on…..Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty (commonly referred to as a nose job) is a popular plastic surgery procedure in men and women of all ages.  Rhinoplasty is surgery of the nose that can improve appearance and proportion of the nose, enhancing facial harmony and self confidence.

While the shape of your nose is usually hereditary, the appearance may have been altered in an injury or during prior surgery.   Since the nose is the most defining characteristic of the face, even the slightest alteration can greatly improve one’s facial profile.  Rhinoplasty surgery may also correct impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities in the nose.

Rhinoplasty surgery can be used to adjust:

  • NOSE SIZE: in relation to other facial structures

  • NOSE WIDTH: at the bridge

  •  NOSE PROFILE: with visible humps or depressions on the bridge

  • NASAL TIP: that is large or bulbous, drooping or too upturned

  • NOSTRILS: that are large, wide or upturned

  • NASAL ASYMMETRY and deviation.

Who should consider rhinoplasty?

For anyone looking to improve any of the nose structural issues outlined above, there is no upper age limit for having your nose reshaped however Mr Mutimer recommends that younger people wait until they are at least 16-18 years of age before considering the surgery.  The main reasons for this are to ensure that the nose is fully developed and that the decision to have rhinoplasty surgery is carefully considered.

Rhinoplasty surgery is a long lasting procedure.  Candidates for the procedure should carefully consider whether the surgery is right for them, consult a specialist plastic surgeon to discuss expectations and what is realistically achievable.  Axis Three (a 3D simulation technology used by Brighton Plastic Surgery) is useful technology that allows you to see a 3D simulation of your nose before and after surgery.

Latest 3D simulation technology

Saturday, April 06, 2013

Brighton Plastic Surgery is very pleased to be one of just a few plastic surgery centres in Victoria currently utilising the latest in 3D simulation technology – called AxisThree.  Whilst there are plans to use the technology across a broad range of procedures we are currently focusing on providing  breast implant & contouring, chin implant and neck contouring patients with the opportunity to see a more accurate picture of their surgical outcome prior to surgery.

The main benefit of AxisThree is that it takes a lot of the guess work out of plastic surgery and allows you to be confident in your decision making and realistically see how your procedure will look on your body, ultimately alleviating some of the pre-surgery worries that you may have or concerns regarding what the end result is likely to be.

AxisThree can show you multiple views of how your surgery will look, side by side so that you can compare different looks. It also enables images to be rotated and viewed at any angle.  AxisThree report that 91% of patients surveyed found that the technology greatly improved their consultation experience.

If you are interested in finding out more about this 3D simulation technology or in booking a consultation submit a confidential enquiry and one of our team will be in touch.

As we continue to closely monitor and respond to the current COVID-19 situation, we’d like to advise of the following changes to our business operations as of 30th March 2020.

We remain open, however our surgeons are currently only seeing patients for skin cancers and trauma. As a result, our practice may operate on limited hours some days.

Wherever possible we have moved to telehealth for other appointments.   We are not able to undertake any wrinkle reduction or cosmetic treatments until further notice, we are however taking bookings for when it is safe to resume.

For urgent (trauma) cases arising after hours – we’ve added after hour surgeon contact details to our main office phone. If you call and our practice is closed, you’ll receive further instruction. Please note that contacting surgeons out of hours is only for urgent cases.

We thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate these challenging times.

Please follow us on Facebook to stay abreast of any new developments as we’ll post timely updates there, and on our website. As always if you have any questions or concerns please call the practice on 03 9592 0522.

The team at Brighton Plastic Surgery would like to assure clients that we continue to closely monitor the unfolding COVID-19 situation and are implementing all necessary safety measures and closely following Health Department Guidelines.

Our practice continues to operate at this time however many changes are in place. Additional measures have been implemented to protect our patients and staff at this uncertain time. Some of these include:

  • Hand wash stations: you’ll find these at our entrance. All people entering our premises are required to thoroughly wash hands on arrival, and upon leaving.
  • Phone appointments – it is not always possible, however where we’re able we are now providing phone consultations, limiting the number of people passing through our practice whilst still providing important patient care and guidance.
  • Limited number of people in our practice at any given time– at this time only essential support people may attend a client’s appointment.  Please be mindful that as a support person you may be asked to wait in your car. If you are attending an appointment on your own, you may also be asked to wait in your car until we are ready for your appointment. The seating capacity in the reception area is deliberately very limited
  • Cashless payments – We’ve moved to cashless payments wherever possible.
If you are unwell you will not be able to attend the practice for your appointment. Please phone us and we will guide you in regard to your ongoing care.

If you have an upcoming appointment our staff will contact you to discuss how this will be managed for you.

We thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate these challenging times.
